Study on Quantifying Quality Degradation of Super-wideband Coded Speech in Comprehensive Quality Assessment

(in English) Super-wideband (SWB) IP-telephony services, which can transmitted in the much wider frequency range compared to the conventional telephony services, are provided. To provide better speech quality to users, we should design the quality before services start and manage it while they being provided. To do this, establishing a quality evaluation method is important. ITU-T Recommendation G.107 ``E-model'' is widely used for comprehensive quality evaluation method for narrowband telephony services. We conducted several subjective experiments in order to extend the E-model to SWB speech communications. This paper presents the results of quantifying quality degradation of SWB codec based on these experimental data.
