Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) It has been demonstrated that an interval between a stimulus appearance and a response is shorter when the characteristic of stimuli corresponds to that of responses than when they does not. The effect is called the stimulus-response compatibility effect. When subjects respond to fixed stimuli along the vertical axis with their left and right hands along the horizontal axis, the compatibility occurs between the stimuli located above/below and responses with right/left hands. In this study, the stimulus-response compatibility between visual motion stimuli along the vertical axis and right and left feet was examined. The compatibility between the movement directions of visual stimuli (above/below) and the responses with feet (right/left) was revealed by the analysis of reaction times.
