A Particle Swarm Optimizer Based on Periodically Swiched Particle Networks

(in English) In this paper, we propose a method to periodically switch the couplings between particles in Particle Swarm Optimization. When the coupling is global, the solution information of each particle propagates quickly. This makes it possible to obtain a solution at high speed. On the other hand, when the coupling is local, the propagation of information is delayed, so that each particle can hold various solutions and can improve the quality of the finally obtained solution. In the proposed method, by switching these combinations periodically, it is possible to achieve compatibility between the solution quality and the search speed. Also, by adjusting the frequency of using these combinations, we can control the search
characteristics according to problems. We perform numerical experiments and confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.
