Analysis of AlphaGo Series from a Point of View of AI-Informatics -- Characteristics and Limitation of Deep Learning --
Haruki Ueno (NII) KBSE2018-6
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The AlphaGo series has brought a surprise and impact to the Go world and society. In this paper I try to summarize key concepts and technologies from papers on AlphaGo, AlphaGo Zero and AlphaZero from the viewpoint of AI informatics. Although AlphaGo series proposed impressive technologies with good trial results the proposed technologies are working in the board game world, and seem not to be useful in real world such as industry and daily life. In this paper I have also tried to compare tow AI approaches, i.e., connectionism- based AI and symbolism-based AI, so that both AI approaches have different features and roles, and should be integrated in the future, together with Internet, big data, IoT and cloud system..
