In this report, we propose a hue-preserving contrast enhancement method without gamut problem for color images. In the proposed method, each pixel in the original image can be expressed as a weighted average of three colors, i.e., white, black, and its pure color. The histogram specification is performed by using smoothed histogram of weight for contrast enhancement. Then, the hue of the pixel is preserved because each pixel is transformed on the equi-hue plane. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, some low contrast images are used to compare with conventional methods. |
