It is known that the switching-type processing is effective for removal of impulse noise in a digital image. In the method, noise detection is first applied to a noise corrupted image and an interpolation process is only applied to detected pixels. It enables preventing deterioration of the original signal. Impulse noise can be classified into two types and these are the salt-and-pepper type and random-valued type. In this report, the detection about the salt-and-pepper type impulse noise is handled. In particular, a boundary discriminative type method is focused and its improvement is carried out. The effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed by experiments. |
