Analysis of amplitude echo envelope is one of the quantitative ultrasonic methods for the soft tissues. The measurment with a high frequency single element transducer, there was a problem that the analysis range in the sound axis direction is restricted. By applying the annular array to the measurement system, expansion of the analysis range can be expected. However, the influence of beam forming for the analysis accurcy is insufficiently studied. In this report, we measured the agar gel phantom containing of glass beads with the diameter of 60 textmu m and the excised rat livers (normal model and fatty model) by using 20-MHz annular array consisting of five elements. Scatterer structure was evaluated using Nakagami distribution model which evaluates scatterer number density from acquired echo data. The results of agar gel phantom suggested that it is effective for analysis of amplitude echo envelope using synthetic focusing signal in the range where signal strength is sufficiently secured. In addition, it was suggested that in the liver tissue, it was possible to analyze the high accuracy over a wide range. |
