A Study of Video-coding for Ultra-low Latency Network Transmission

(in English) Autonomous driving for vehicles and MR(Mixed Reality) for IoT(Internet of Things) equipment require ultra-low-latency video transmission with ms order. Recently, 5G wireless data communication technology are discussed to transmit high definition video such as 4K and 8K ultra-low-latency with ms order. However conventional video-coding method has a large latency in compression and decompression. Therefore, it was impossible to transmit a high definition video with ultra-low-latency with ms order. In this paper, we describe the processing algorithms of video-coding method for ultra-low-latency network transmission, which enables ultra-low-latency video transmission with µs order, which is 1/1000 of conventional video coding method. In this video-coding system, line based processing algorithm is adopted instead of conventional two-dimensional rectangular based processing. This coding algorithm consists of line-based prediction method, dynamic quantization, and coding method. The proposed method accomplishes µs order ultra-low-latency video transmission with 1/3 bandwidth.
