[Tutorial Lecture] Measurement Method of Input Impedance of Balanced Antenna -- Improvement of Accuracy of the S-Parameter Method --

(in English) Recently, the S-parameter method using a vector network analyzer and a measurement jig instead of a balun has been pro-posed whereby the differential input impedance of a balanced fed antenna can be found. Because the balun is not used, it is possible to measure impedance over a wide bandwidth. However, when measured frequency rises, it is known that measure-ment accuracy decreases because the influence of the jig cannot be disregarded for the measurement. To remove the influence of the jig from measurements of S-parameter method, we are examining the open-correction etc. that use the ABCD-matrix. In this report, for the purpose of improving measurement accuracy further, the modified open-correction that considers the im-pedance of the open-end of the jig is examined using the FDTD method. As a result of examining the input impedance of a dipole antenna, it has been understood that the accuracy of the proposed open-correction is better than that of the conven-tional open-correction.
