Near-Field to Far-Field Transformation for Radar Cross-Section and Antenna Pattern Measurement

(in English) The demands for measurement of an electrically large object such as air plane become to be strong year by year. In this paper, we discuss about Near-Field to Far-Field Transformation (NFFFT) with data measured by circular/cylindrical scanning system, from which Radar Cross-Section (RCS) can be evaluated by transformed to far-region electromagnetic field from scattering near-field. The feature of our proposed method is the introduction of improved focusing factor, which is obtained exactly by the integral transformation for small objects. From this operational factor, we can expect more accuracy estimation for strong asymmetrical object, which leads that RCS measurement is available even in small anechoic chamber. On the other hand, 1-way antenna measurement has the same problem with 2-way RCS measurement. In this paper, we show RCS NFFFT method has also ability to transform antenna near-field to far-field.
