Underwater acoustic signals are used in various fields such as marine environmental measurement, exploration of sea bottom resources, ecological monitoring, etc. Underwater acoustic noise is colored, and its power spectral density is higher in the low frequency domain. A spectrogram is a visual representation that a signal is passed through a window function, a frequency spectrum is calculated, and a time-frequency variation of a signal is visually represented. A noise removal method of a spectrogram has proposed by using image processing, where a spectrogram is considered as an image. In Ugo’s research, the noises were removed by applying a pre-whitening and the mathematical morphological filter to the spectrogram of the signal with the underwater noise. However there are some problems that the target signals are vanished when SNR is very low in the low frequency domain. In this research, we assume that the target signals are frequency modulated (FM) signals and the underwater noises’powers are higher in the low frequency domain. The proposed method can restore the signals vanished in the low frequency domain by using surrounding information extracted from the time-frequency binary image by the Hough transform. |
