Performance Evaluation of MPI Parallel Program on Android Cluster with Wireless Network

(in English) Recently, many mobile devices including smartphones and table devices employs multi-core processor and GPU and have advanced greatly in performance. Thus, mobile devices are attracting attention as new computational resources for parallel distributed computing. With this background, we are developing a wireless connected cluster computer system where mobile computer running Android OS is used as computation node. This cluster system, Open MPI is used for parallel distributed computation enviroment. Also, The primary communication method between computing nodes is wireless communication. However, depending on the MPI application, the performance does not improve even if the number of nodes increases because bandwidth of wireless communication is lower than wired communication. Thus, it is necessary to clarify the characteristics of MPI application which can obtain speed improvement. In this paper, we evaluate of the performance of MPI application in wireless connected Android cluster system.
