Measurement of liquid properties with high time resolution by inkjet system

(in English) Observation and measurement of parameters, which are determined with surface and interfacial physical properties of liquid, in extremely fast time range about 1 ms was successfully carried out. When a microdroplet such as water contacts with immiscible liquid surface such as oil, the surface and interfacial tension are dominant and gravitational effect is negligible in the dynamic behavior unlike the macroscopic system. In this work, experimental parameters related to surface and interfacial tension were measured by observing the dynamic behavior of a microdroplet of water or ethanol in contact with surface of hexadecane or silicone oil using the stroboscopic method and analyzing the equilibrium shape of the microdroplet.
