[Tutorial Lecture] Electromagnetic Metamaterials for Antenna Applications

(in English) Electromagnetic metamaterials are defined as artificial effectively homogeneous electrmagnetic structures with unusual properties not readily available in nature. Metamaterial technologies are greatly expected to be useful as an technique for miniaturization and high functionality of antennas. The composite right/left-handed transmission line theory has been contributed to improve the degree of freedom of an antenna design and realizatioin of novel antennas. In this lecture, the transmission line theory and practical design method of the metamaterials for antenna applications are explained.
