Alternating-phase fed slotted waveguide arrays with which adjacent radiating waveguides are excited with 180-degree phase difference generate grating lobe in skewed direction because it requires alternating slot displacement from the waveguide centerline. In order to overcome the problem, a configuration that all slots are placed in line along a centerline of a waveguide is effective. In this paper, we propose a novel in-line slot array antenna on a broad wall of ridge waveguide. A bent ridge in a waveguide and grooves with different depths at both sides of the ridge are proposed to radiate in-line slot elements. The antenna configurations, simulation, and experimental results are presented. |
