Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Visualizing subcutaneous tissue is useful to evaluate internal bleeding accompanied by trauma, subcutaneous hematoma and venous thrombosis. In this study, to verify the feasibility of non-invasive and ease of subcutaneous hematoma evaluation, phantom experiments were conducted. The shape of simulated hematoma samples was portrayed accurately in photoacoustic images. These results demonstrated the usefulness of our system for evaluating the morphology of subcutaneous hematoma. Furthermore, the same samples were measured using multiple wavelengths. Photoacoustic signal intensity ratio between two different wavelengths increases with increasing the bilirubin concentration in blood. These analyses demonstrated the usefulness of our system for evaluating the characterization of subcutaneous hematoma.
