Millimeter-wave (mmWave) systems offer the potential of enabling multi-gigabit high-speed wireless communications for future vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2X) applications. A main challenge of using mmWave is to overcome link disconnection due to its high directivity and high sensitivity to signal blockage. In this work, we study multi-link connection, which maintains concurrent data flow to mitigate link disconnection. The prototype system is based on 60 GHz WiGig/IEEE 802.11ad standard and it employs Multipath TCP (MPTCP) to bundle a plurality of TCP links. The measurement results show improved robustness against conventional methods, demonstrating 1.8 Gbps average throughput under signal blocking events. |
