Wireless devices operated by energy harvesting have to stably work with limited and stochastic energy from the environment. Therefore, a precise stochastic model of energy harvesting process is remarkably important to evaluate the performance of communications systems with energy harvesting. Although a lot of protocols have been proposed in the literature to enhance the end-to-end performance under the limited power-source scenario, these papers evaluated their performances with theoretical models without measurements. In this paper, photovoltaics are focused as energy harvesters, and a spatial and temporal energy-supply model is studied based on actual measurements. To this end, we install BH1750 digital ambient light sensors on environments and measure illuminances from the sunlight. Considering both observations and the effect of the photovoltaic circuit, spatial- and temporal-correlations of harvested energy are studied, and a mathematical model based on actual measurements is investigated. |
