[Poster Presentation] Design of MIMO Array Based on Analysis of Ground Clearances Effects

(in English) In this paper, the impact of ground clearances on multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) is studied by characteristic mode theory (CMT). For Metal-Rimmed smartphone, the chassis with and without ground clearances are both analyzed by CMT. The analyzed results show that ground clearances have a great influence on the isolation of MIMO. A 4-port MIMO array is presented to prove the analysis. Based on the previous analysis, an 8-port MIMO array operating in the 3.5GHz band is proposed and fabricated. The measured results show that the proposed MIMO array is promising for future smartphone applications with isolation better than 15dB.
