RCS Near-field to Far-field Transformation Estimation by Using GTD Target Models

(in English) The measurement for radar cross-section (RCS) of electrically large object such as air-plane and for radiation pattern of large antenna are demanded strongly year by year. We discuss about near-field to far-field transformation (NFFFT) by circular/cylindrical scanning system, from which RCS can be estimated by transformed to far-region electromagnetic field from scattering near-field. The feature of our proposed method is the employment of the improved focusing factor obtained by the exact transformation integral using small objects. This compensation factor leads more accuracy estimation for strong asymmetrical object, so that RCS measurement is available even in small anechoic chamber. In this paper, we introduce the simple shaped models as a target by using geometrical theory of diffraction (GTD), and then examine the theoretical RCS and measured data in order to verify NFFFT validity and GTD usefulness. This paper shows the simple GTD models such as a conducting flat plate (strip) and if possible a two-face corner-reflector.
