Fault detection of photovoltaic strings using parameter estimation of string circuit model

(in English) We aim at detecting faults and recognizing those sorts for photovoltaic strings in mega solar power plants. We use measurement data of direct voltages and currents of strings and meteorological signals, which are available with relatively low cost. We propose a circuit model of strings, which are constructed from the level of photovoltaic cells. The parameters of the model are estimated with the measurement data. We expect the estimated parameters can inform us even the sort of faults. Our estimation method comprises of procedures of minimizing an error function between the IV curve of the model and the measurement data.
