[Tutorial Lecture] Quality factor of electrically small antennas and their broadbanding

(in English) Electrically small antennas which size is smaller than wavelength of the operating frequency are described with respect to lower limitation $Q$ factor, gain and bandwidth. Quality factors of typical small antennas such as inverted-L and normal mode helical antennas are evaluated with relation to the lower limitation $Q$. As an evaluation of electrically small antennas, product of bandwidth and radiation efficiency reported by Sievenpiper's group is introduced. Multi-mode excitation as a broadbanding method of small antenna is explained with design examples.
