Power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of polymer-based bulk heterojunction organic photovoltaics (OPVs) have continued to grow over the past several years, up to 11.7%. Recently, the development of non-fullerene acceptors has led to further improved PCEs up to 14.6%. Thus, non-fullerene acceptors including perylenetetracarboxylic diimide (PTCDI) derivatives have gained increasing interest. In this study, we fabricated planar OPVs using PTCDI with various alkyl chain lengths as an acceptor (A) and a low band-gaped polymer (PTB7) as a donor (D). The OPV characteristics associated with the D-A separation distance controlled by the alkyl chain lengths were investigated by the electroluminescence from charge transfer states. |
