A Proposal of Concept Extension of Radio Access Network

(in English) In the fifth generation (5G) mobile communication systems, beamforming with massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and distributed antenna networks have been developed for realizing small cell network. However, their technologies have some problems, such as shadowing and initial cost. Generally, in wireless communication systems, energy efficiency and connectivity also should be further improved. In this paper, we newly proposed a concept extension of radio access network (RAN), within which a user mobile terminal can be seen to resolve their problems. In addition, we show major features of our proposed system, such as flexible group mobility and relief of complexity of beam control in a massive MIMO. Then, to show a concrete example technology to realize our proposed system, we also introduce a terminal cooperation technology, which we have proposed.
