| (in English) | The coherence between the electroencephalogram (EEG) and the electromyogram (EMG) of the soleus (SOL) muscle during isometric contraction is observed in the beta-band (15 to 35 Hz) regardless of contraction force. However, it has not been studied how the coherence varies over time in the lateral head of gastrocnemius (GLH) muscle which has the same role as soleus muscle. In this study, we focused on the GLH and measured EEG and EMG on GLH muscle when executing the isometric contraction by the dorsiflexion of their right ankle joint for 1 minute. And we investigated changes in EEG-EMG coherence with contraction force and elapsed time. As a result, in the majority of subjects, peak coherence during weak contraction force was observed continuously in the beta band. Peak coherence during strong contraction force was observed in the gamma band (35−60 Hz) only for the first 12 seconds. After that, no significant coherence was observed. Therefore, it was suggested that muscle fatigue due to strong contraction force affects peak coherence and peak coherence with different properties from SOL was observed due to the difference in muscle composition. | |
