21-GHz Wide-band satellite transmission experiment with BSAT-4a broadcasting satellite

(in English) To achieve the wide-band transmission for full-specification 8K Super Hi-Vision and Diverse Vision, a wide-band transmission experiment using the 21-GHz broadcasting satellite BSAT-4a was conducted. The objective of the experiment was to measure and evaluate 21-GHz wide-band transmission performance of BSAT-4a, which located at 110 degrees east longitude. We used the upper-band satellite transponder in BSAT-4a for measurement. The C/N vs BER performance was measured by changing modulation order and LDPC coding rate. We report the specifications, schematic diagram and results of the experiment. Performance losses of the IF-loopback, earth-station-loopback, and satellite-loopback are also shown in the report.
