Illumination Estimation Based on Photometric Registration Perception for AR
Yuki Oyama, Hiroki Takahashi (UEC) ITS2018-74 IE2018-95
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In AR technology, it is important to synthesize realistic images where users do not feel strange to them. In order to realize photometric registration for synthesizing realistic AR images, it is necessary to estimate the light source environment in the real world. This paper proposes two simple illumination estimation methods based on photometric registration perception. A light source position is estimated by using a monocular camera with a cylindrical object. First proposed method uses only a single image, and second method employs SLAM(Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) and images. Finally, experimental results in the real world show that these methods are suitable for AR.
