In laser ultrasonics, pulse laser equipment is generally used for generating elastic wave in a material and the material is evaluated by detecting the pulse wave after propagating in the material. This paper reports the elastic wave generation with fiber laser equipment by modulating high-repetition laser output or continuous-wave laser output. Moreover, this paper shows that the laser modulation technique works well to improve the defect images when using broadband wave is generated in the defect imaging where the laser source is rastered over the plate-like structure and all detected signals are processed appropriately. Since this imaging technique can be used for a plate with complex geometries, we expect this technique is applied for wide varieties of plate-like structures. |
