A Semantic Peer-to-Peer Live Streaming System Using Preference Similarity

(in English) This paper presents an efficient control method in contents distribution service for simultaneous viewing of the video contents via P2P (Peer-to-Peer) communication. In order for minimizing connection delays caused by switching process on the different over-lay networks for movie selection, the proposed method utilizes Scalable Video Coding (SVC) to distribute multiple video contents in a single overlay network, in which the video data can be also multicasted to all peers. In this proposed method, each peer has higher priority to its related contents, while the data for improving video quality are retrieved from the adjacent peers. By considering user preferences to the movie categories for modeling the semantic P2P network, the peers with similar preferences are placed in proximity, and the corresponding path length is shortened. In addition, the packets are guided to the neighbor peers based on physical distance for traffic control. The simulated traffic and the number of hops showed the effectiveness of the proposed method; especially, the evaluation result showed 20% decrease in traffic.
