Acceleration of Boosting Discriminators Using Region Partition Learning and Its Application to Face Detectors

(in English) We propose a method of acceleration of boosting discriminators.
Discriminant functions used for boosting are constructed by linearly combining many low accuracy classifiers called weak classifiers.
Often, a large number of weak classifiers are required to perform high accuracy classification, so that it may be a practical problem that the computational complexity of the discriminant function increases.
In this paper, we consider a method to evaluate the discriminant function quickly without reducing the accuracy of the boosting discriminant function.
There is already a method proposed by Utsumi et al. and Izumi et al. as a high-speed evaluation method.
In this research, we propose a method which improves their method by dividing the feature space and optimally tuning and applying their method for each divided region.
Here, the partition of the feater space is determined by the given data.
We applied the proposed method to boosting based face detectors to evaluate its computation time.
