There is a case that snubber capacitors are connected in parallel to switching devices for applying soft switching technique to inductive power transfer (IPT) systems. In this case, loss is caused by the wasteful freewheeling current during the dead-time when the dead-time length is not set to the appropriate value at the operating condition and to the capacitance of snubber capacitors. However, in most of the conventional systems, the dead-time length is constant. The reason is that the relationship between the dead-time length required for switching and the IPT systems has not been clarified. Therefore, in this paper, this relationship is clarified. In addition, the adjustment method for the dead-time length is proposed and the efficiency of the system is improved. As a result, by applying the proposed method, the efficiency of the system was improved by 0.7 pt in the experiments. |
