Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We propose a new presentation system (Prop-Tactile display) which compound in local vibration method on a tactile display and powered mechanical leading method to convey two-dimensional information easier for visually impaired people. By using the mechanical leading, we consider that would be able to support to educate a kanji for visually impaired, and to convey text information or conversation by a kana letter for deaf-blind person who are not readable of Braille. Here, the easy recognition of the kana letter was evaluated by the experiments to compare with the mechanical leading presentation and writing on a palm presentation. In Experiment, a correct answer ratio of the letter recognition for four different presentation methods was evaluated under the condition that an experimenter showed a letter. Also, the relation with a correct answer ratio for the leading velocity on the mechanical leading presentation, and a correct answer ratio of the letter recognition for the presentation method that was chose based on a result of the previous experiments, was searched by using Prop-Tactile display. As a result, it was found that the correct answer ratio of the letter recognition (a) was significantly higher the mechanical leading presentation than the writing on a palm presentation, (b) became the tendency higher the case of contact on the surface than the non-contact in the mechanical leading presentation, and (c) was an equal value between leading presentation by the person and the mechanical leading presentation with contact surface. Also, it was found that the correct answer ratio of the mechanical leading presentation with contact surface had few drops to around 200mm/s in velocity. These results suggest that the mechanical leading presentation method with contact surface using prop-tactile display is effective the conveyance of the letter information for deaf-blind people.
