Prediction Accuracy in Conduction Disturbance Voltage of DC/DC Buck Converter Using Noise-source Equivalent-circuit Model

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We have applied the noise-source equivalent-circuit model to predict the conducted disturbance voltage to the DC/DC buck converter. It has been known that it is better to use a different value of the bypass capacitor instead of changing the value of the load resistance as the combination of actual measurements used to identify model parameters with high prediction accuracy. This is because by using a bypass capacitor it is possible to change only the high frequency noise current without affecting the switching operation itself. However, the prediction accuracy also changes depending on the combination of bypass capacitors used for identification, so it is necessary to know the combination with high prediction accuracy. Therefore, in this paper, we compare the condition numbers by the combination method using the condition number which is the scale when solving the simultaneous equations, and investigate the relationship with the prediction accuracy. At this time, the relationship between the simulation error and the condition number, which is the difference between the prediction accuracy and the actual measurement, was used. By taking the boundary value to the condition number using this relationship, the frequency used for prediction was limited. From this, the error near 10 MHz of the output voltage is reduced, and the difference between the actual measurement and the simulation becomes less than about 10 dB.
