Fundamental Study on Suppression of Self-Interference Wave Caused by Intentional Information Leakage with IEMI

(in English) There is a threat of information leakage through unintentional electromagnetic (EM) emissions from equipment. The feasibility of this threat has been decided by the ratio of the strength of the leakage EM wave and the strength of background noise. Moreover, as a new threat, new methods have been proposed to control the EM strength due to intentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI) to cause leakage. Then, this threat enables acquisition of information from devices that have conventionally been difficult to acquire information through EM leakage. On the other hand, in this method, the self-interference occurred in the receiving antenna when the EM waves are irradiated degrade attack performance, and it is difficult to simplify and downsize the attack device. In this paper, we propose a method to suppression the self-interference signal by precisely adding the self-interference signal and the signal of the opposite phase to the leaked EM wave. And we demonstrate that the reconstruction of the target signal is possible even for the leakage EM wave with weak strength through the fundamental experiment.
