MIMO Antenna Array for GB-SAR

(in English) This paper presents a design of microstrip Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) antenna system working at 17.1 GHz for ground-based synthetic aperture radar (GB-SAR) applications. Each MIMO antenna element is composed of eight rectangular patch linear array. Appropriate feeding is provided by travelling wave feeding network centrally excited. The proposed design satisfies the GB-SAR requirements. The antenna array shows a wide bandwidth of 400MHz, and half-power beamwidth (HPB) less than 10° and 105°, in elevation and Azimuth planes, respectively. Moreover, the envelope correlation coefficient is calculated and shows value less than 0.002 indicating good MIMO performance. The simulations are carried out using EM-CST simulator. Then, to validate our proposed MIMO structure for GB-SAR application, a prototype of MIMO radar is installed in controlled environment and in operative conditions during the static test.
