(in English) This presentation summarizes the background and outline of the European Commission (EC)’s Stakeholders Acting Together On the ethical impact assessment of Research and Innovation (SATORI) project for Japanese-speaking researchers. This project, funded by the “Science in Society” program in the EC’s 7th framework program (2007–2013), was conducted from Jan. 2014 to Sep. 2017 against the background of the strong tendency in Europe to emphasize ethics and European values in research and innovation (R&I). The noteworthy project outcome is “pre-standardized” recommendations for R&I ethics assessment for the European Committee for Standardization, which may affect R &I activities beyond Europe in the future.
