[Invited Talk] A study of wireless technologies for 5G mobile communications system
Eiji Okamoto (NITech) SRW2019-20
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In the fifth generation mobile communications system (5G), in addition to the conventional enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) use case, two use cases of ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (URLLC) and massive machine type communications (mMTC) have newly been added. Furthermore, high frequencies not only in microwave band but also millimeter-wave band are used in 5G to realize a broadband communication. However, according to the frequency increase, a cell coverage becomes small due to a large propagation loss, and the maximum Doppler frequency of fading becomes high, resulting in a severe transmission performance degradation. Therefore, to satisfy the various performance requirements such as reliability, latency, and energy efficiency in the new use cases of 5G, applying additional technologies are indispensable. We are considering exploiting short range wireless transmissions to improve the 5G performances. In this study, we introduce some of the proposed schemes for 5G. In particular, for URLLC, we consider utilizing a cooperative vehicle-to-vehicle transmission to improve an uplink vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) transmission from far vehicle, an adaptive beam tracking scheme for uplink V2I transmission, and an open-loop hybrid automatic repeat request scheme for low-latency transmission. For mMTC, we consider an energy-efficient uplink Internet of things (IoT) data transmission scheme using an unmanned aerial vehicle base station, a radio-wave encrypted non-orthogonal multiple access scheme for massive secure uplink IoT transmission, and an advanced human mobility control scheme.
