Bipolar disorder, in which states of mania and depression circulate, is a mental illness that recurs over a long term. The construction of an effective treatment is desired because of the high morbidity and mortality rates. However, pharmacotherapy centered on currently used mood stabilizers often makes it difficult to cope with the diversity of individual pathologies and large changes in the treatment progress. While, applications of nonlinear control theory to pharmacotherapy have recently been studied. In this study, as one of these applications, we propose a feedback signal that suppresses the chaotic-chaotic intermittency of neural activity in the frontal cortex observed in bipolar disorder by our proposed chaotic control method called the “reduced region of orbit method”. |
