Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This study focuses on the research and development of a millimeter-wave super hi-vision (SHV) wireless camera that can transmit 4K/8K video wirelessly using millimeter-wave ratio waves. Our previous 2K wireless camera uses millimeter-wave transmit videos at 80 Mbps through the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing method with a 62.5-MHz channel bandwidth. The developed millimeter-wave SHV wireless camera has a 125-MHz channel bandwidth, which is twice that of our previous wireless camera, for increased transmission capacity. In addition, a single-carrier transmission with frequency domain equalization (SC-FDE) scheme was applied to the wireless camera to suppress the increase in power consumption, while increasing the transmission power. The SC-FDE offers a high level of power efficiency because it is not affected by power amplifier distortion. We developed a millimeter-wave SHV wireless camera capable of transmitting 8K video at 185Mbps by combining a small prototype transmitter, four portable ultra-low delay 4K encoders, and a transport stream multiplexer. In this report, we discuss this wireless camera system, its configuration, and performance.
