Maximum Power Efficiency of Matching Circuits Formulated from TX-RX Symmetric Shape Electric and Magnetic Coupler Size for Wireless Power Transfer

(in English) We are interested in minimum size design of capacitive coupler for wireless power transfer. When we reduce the size of the coupler, the performance of the coupler itself changes, and the matching circuit also becomes changes. As a result, the loss of the matching circuit may increase. However, it is difficult for us to perform optimal design because many designs need to be analyzed. Therefore, we formulate between coupler size and power efficiency relation. We characterize power efficiency taking the loss of two-port matching circuits into account. Using the deduced formula, we can design necessary and sufficient dimension of the coupler to achieve specified power efficiency. The result of this work is useful for designing capacitive coupler for use in lightweight crafts such as small drones.
