Spin orbit torque-magnetization switching without external field in rare earth-transition metal alloy

(in English) SOT (Spin-orbit torque) has been attractively studied as one of the most active research topics because it can manipulate magnetization with low power consumption. In this study, we investigate current-induced magnetization switching (CIMS) by SOT without external in-plane magnetic field using Ta/Gd-Fe/Ir22Mn78/Co90Fe10/Ta multilayered magnetic wire. The SOT-CIMS in above wire was successfully observed even if the external in-plane magnetic field is not applied at all. We found that the critical current density of CIMS in the GdFe is lower than that of the conventional materials owing to the low saturation magnetization.
