An experimental study on NDN-based 360-degree panoramic video streaming over EU-JP testbed

(in English) Due to the spread of VR devices and 360-degree camera, 360-degree panoramic video streaming services have launched recently. However, 360-degree video streaming requires significantly high bandwidth than the traditional video streaming, and we should enhance its efficiency for wide usage. Our prior researches show that Information-Centric Networking (ICN) has a potential to enable efficient 360-degree live video streaming services by making use of its rich features, e.g, in-network caching and flexible edge computation with name-based forwarding. In the 360-degree live video streaming service, video should follow the user’s field of view, and fast-response is required for the system to achieve high user’s QoE. In this paper, we have conducted some experiments over the ICN testbed CUTEi to capture the impact of the delay and loss on our application. This paper shows our technical details and some best practices of building ICN realtime services.
