Fabrication for 3-dimensionally aligned single-mode core polymer optical waveguide using the Mosquito method

(in English) Following the wide deployment of cloud computing technology, single-mode fiber (SMF) links are required in data center networks. Multicore fibers (MCFs) are expected to be a solution for further high bandwidth and density wiring, so several fan-in/out devices have been developed as a coupling element for MCF with single-core SMFs including polymer waveguide type device. We developed the Mosquito method for fabricating polymer waveguides, which is capable of forming three-dimensional array of graded-index circular cores. In this research, the fabrication conditions are investigated for forming multiple single-mode cores with identical optical characteristics and hexagonally aligned polymer optical waveguides are fabricated for unique low-loss fan-in/out devices.
