Study for Common-Mode Noise Suppression by Balance Matching on Isolated Resonant Converters

(in English) This report presents a novel circuit design method for suppressing common-mode noise in isolated resonant converters. Comparing the converter’s structure to a balance-mismatched connection of transmission lines, a common-mode equivalent circuit is derived to analyze the mechanism of common-mode noise occurrence. And then, a balance-matched converter circuit to achieve a lower common-mode current is proposed. It is revealed that common-mode current can be suppressed by balance matching between the primary and secondary circuits of the converter. Applying the proposed method to the LLC converter in which the primary circuit is half-bridge and the secondary one is full-bridge, balance mismatch can be corrected by connecting the primary negative terminal and the transformer’s center tap of secondary side via a capacitor. The effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed by a circuit simulation.
