In inaudible speech recognition using surface EMG, consonant recognition is one of the difficult problems. When phonemes are spoken continuously, muscular activity of each phoneme affects each other, and the changing point between phonemes is not clear. Therefore, at first, we consider the freature extraction of isolated single syllable (one vowel, or one consonant + one vowel). For consonant recognition, it is important to identify the start of utterance with high accuracy. In general, a feature value representing muscular acitivity and a threshold are used to determine muscle activated time. However, the time detected by a fixed single threshold varies easily depending on the strength of the utterance. In this paper, we propose a method to reduce ambiguity in identifying the activation time of the muscle on each EMG channel. |
