The Derivation of Electromagnetic Potential and Lorentz Force in Invariant Form

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Up to now, in the electromagnetic theory, the electromagnetic field is defined first, and then the electromagnetic potential is defined. This makes it difficult to draw the concrete picture of the vector potential. At the time when the electromagnetic theory was constructed, the Lorentz force law was the only law that could be relied on. Given this situation, it may be natural that the electromagnetic field is defined first. On the other hand, due to the redefinition of the International System of Units (SI) in May 2019, the unit of mass has been defined by fixing the Planck constant. It would be worthwhile to reconsider existing theories based on this new definition. In this paper, Lorentz force and electromagnetic potential are derived based on this new definition, and the essence of the vector potential is clarified.
