In recent years, with the development of a technology called Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS), expectations for realizing an automotive network based on Ethernet technology as well as serial bus communication protocols such as CAN (Control Area Network) and FlexRay has been increasing. EthernetAVB (Audio/Video Bridging) and EthernetTSN (Time-Sensitive Networking) is expected to realize high-reliability, low-latency Ethernet communication. In the literature, a number of studies have been performed to investigate the effctiveness of EthernetAVB in an automotive network. However, it is not sufficiently discussed what communication protocols (e.g., UDP or TCP) should be used to realize high-reliability and low-latency communication in an automotive network. In this study, we evaluate the performance of transport protocols such as TCP and UDP in automotive networks using our network emulator ATINET (AuTomotive IP NETwork emulator). |
