A consideration on wideband design of ring microstrip antennas fed by an L-probe

(in English) This paper presents broadband design of ring microstrip antennas (MSAs) fed by an L-probe. Firstly, a ring MSA fed by an L-probe with a double-layered dielectric substrate is presented. By using a thick substrate for the L-probe and optimizing a distance between the L-probe and the ring patch, wideband characteristics can be obtained. The wideband performance as well as radiation properties of the double-layer ring MSA is demonstrated by simulation and measurement. Then, a ring MSA fed by an L-probe with a single-layered dielectric substrate in which the L-probe is arranged on the same layer as the ring patch is proposed. The wideband performance of the single-layer ring MSA is also exhibited by simulation and measurement. It is revealed that the both proposed ring MSAs fed by an L-probe provide excellent performance as a broadband planar antenna.
