[Special Talk] 3-D Radiation Pattern Measurement of 60-GHz-Band Phased Array Antenna Using 4x2 Patch Array Antenna

(in English) In this paper, we report a designed ,fabricated, and measured results of a 60-GHz-band 2×2 beam-
forming arrray antenna. Dual-feed patch element antenna is used. The objective is to evaluate beamforming
characteristics by using the orthogonal feed patch array antenna. Element spacing is 3.0 mm, which corresponds
with free-space wavelength of 0.6 0. Phase difference of feeding signal is 45 degree. We evaluate the beamforming
coverage area with gain exceeds 10 dBi. 3-D electromagnetic field simulation and measurement was conducted. The
proposed antenna structure has two substrate stacking structure by the copper balls interconnection technology.
We have confirmed normal operation of the proposed antenna because all channel signal was observed. Radiation
pattern at 60 GHz in all 3-D direction was measured by 5 degree angle resolution. Beamforming area having over
10 dBi gain was evaluated.
