A Study on Mean Antenna Gain of Massive MIMO in Line-of-Sight Street Canyon Environment

(in English) In 5th generation mobile communication systems, massive MIMO has been studied as one of the elemental technologies to realize high-speed and large-capacity communications. The introduction of massive MIMO is expected to improve the radio frequency utilization efficiency and to compensate for the propagation loss that increases in the high frequency band. Although the channel capacity and the throughput are used for the performance evaluation of massive MIMO, there is not a lot of studies with the antenna gain which has high affinity with the propagation loss required for link design. In this report, to clarify the effective antenna gain of massive MIMO in the line-of-sight street canyon environment, the average antenna gain in uplink and downlink is calculated by computer simulations using a 3GPP channel model.
